Artist: Ary Jean Bitter (1883–1973)
A celebrated French sculptor and designer, Bitter worked in terracotta, stone, plaster and bronze, with some pieces produced in biscuit porcelain by Sèvres. Best known for his animal studies, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1912–1939, earning multiple medals including bronze (1913), silver (1921), and gold (1924). He later collaborated with Susse Frères on limited editions and won further acclaim at the 1937 Exposition Internationale in Paris.
This is a stunning and collectible example of his Art Deco work—elegant, harmonious, and full of character.
